Tablets Are The New Textbooks

When the final numbers are in for 2010, U.S. consumers will have purchased 10.3 million tablets in the last year alone, according to Forrester Research Inc. As high school students prepare to graduate this spring, many moms and dads are already thinking about graduation presents, specifically, what their teens will need to succeed on campus.

The iPad has become the best selling gadget ever. Tablets ranging from the Superpad to a new version of the Galaxy Tab are soon to launch - which makes now the perfect time for parents and students to think about the role e-devices play in higher education, and decide whether to invest in a tablet over the more traditional laptop.

Verizon and Motorola Team Up for the 'Motorola Draft Day Experience' Sweepstakes

Verizon and Motorola Mobility Inc. are teaming up to offer a chance of a lifetime for any football fan: a trip to the 2011 NFL Draft.  The Motorola Draft Day Experience sweepstakes will reward one lucky winner with an all-expenses-paid trip to the event, to be held April 28-30 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Anyone can enter the contest online at www.motorola.com/draftdayexperience.  Contestants will be asked to provide their e-mail address and view a brief video about Verizon's FiOS services.  The entry period is currently open and lasts through March 31, 2011.  One grand-prize winner will receive a trip for two, including airfare, hotel and tickets to the 2011 NFL Draft as well as $500 in spending money.  Ten first-prize winners will receive tickets to draft parties hosted by NFL teams.

"Past success with these types of promotions has shown that FiOS customers are also avid football fans," said John Wimsatt, senior vice president of marketing for Verizon.  "Our customers know that Verizon offers an incredible football offering that can't be beat, with TV, broadband and wireless services delivered over our advanced networks.  We're thrilled to once again work with Motorola and offer such a unique opportunity."
Jean Pierre Le Cannellier, vice president of marketing, Motorola Mobility, said, "Motorola is excited to once again join Verizon in promoting their FiOS NFL offering and highlighting the extensive range of advanced FiOS services available to consumers.  Motorola is proud that our products, such as QIP set-top boxes and DROID smartphones, help Verizon create a multi-screen entertainment experience that delights their subscribers."

The contest follows last year's Ultimate Game Day Access sweepstakes, through which Verizon and Motorola provided one fan with a trip to Super Bowl XLV in North Texas.  The contests help to enhance Verizon's extensive football offerings, at no additional cost.
